The hematocrit test is a kind of blood test which is done to test the amount of blood in the red blood cells. This means that if the percentage of the blood is 40% then it means there are 40 millimetres of red blood cells in the blood.  Therefore it is a kind of measurement which is done to know the percentage of blood. These tests are done if in case there is a increase in Hematocrit or decrease in it. There may be different reasons by which there is a increase or decrease in the Hematocrit. The increase is due to the dehydration while the decrease can be due to the anaemia. Thus it depends upon the person's body and its effect.

The procedure of the hematocrit test consists of taking the blood sample for the test. The blood can be taken either from the vein of the arm or from the finger. Thus both the ways are easy as you need only a small quantity of blood to test. Then it is send to the medical centre where it is tested for the amount of blood.  But these types of tests are not so common because the people suffering from only some of the diseases are allowed for this test. These tests are usually recommended by the doctors and are carried out then only.

Some of the diseases which require these tests include the Leukaemia and anaemia. But sometimes the person is also suffering from the diet problems too. Thus there can be various reasons when the doctors suggest you for this kind of test. But there is no need to worry as it is a very simple test. You will have no pain and it will be done easily. Thus if your doctor has advised you for this test then you must go for the test as it is very necessary.
